Stow Marie's Aerodrome
05th April 2011
Stow Marie’s Aerodrome.
As you may be aware there has been a Great Grey Shrike at Stow Marie’s since 20th March
Last week I decided to pay a visit to see the bird and possibly photograph it.
My time was very limited but I saw the Shrike and also spotted a Black Redstart on site.
After a conversation with Owner Russell Savory I learnt that he has great plans for the site with wildlife conservation, education and photography very much the focus.
In conjunction with several wildlife conservation organisations he has plans for several hides, a scrape to attract waders and wildfowl, wildlife ponds and possibly a centre and café.
Through Russell’s hard work and with such a wide variety of species including Corn Bunting, Skylark, Little Owl, Buzzard and Black Redstart already on site and the potential to attract many more I would say this site could be one of the best for wildlife photography in the county possibly even wider.
I am looking into the possibility once complete of organising workshops / courses similar to the ones I currently run at RSPB Rainham Marshes.
If you would like to arrange a visit you can either contact me through the website or contact
Russell through www.stowmaries.com.
